IX. Little Cardinal

It was time for another bird, and I had the perfect piece of stone… or so I thought. As I got to the head of the bird there seemed to be something hard. Sure enough, there was a thin porous vein of something or other that pops right out at the top of his head! But I was too far into the piece to abandon it and I think I worked around it…noticeable but not detractable. Everything else about the little bird I like, the tail came out nicely and the wings cross wonderfully over the tail! I also tried to give it a more quizzical head tilt. Beaks are tough though, and I am forever afraid it’ll snap off. But that dang lump of whatever at the tiptop! 3 out of 5, just for that “thing".”
